Certification for Fuel and Appliance Emissions Testing

The Authority, Defra, seeks a supplier to act as the approved certification body for wood fuel, manufactured solid fuels and solid fuel appliances, enabling statutory compliance under the Clean Air Act 1993 and the Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020. Services include comprehensive certification, testing and verification of test results, audits, assessment of applications and evidence from test facilities, direct testing of wood fuel, review of results for fuels and appliances, issuing and managing certifications, impartial technical advice, planned and risk-based auditing, routine and incident-driven compliance investigations, maintenance of digital systems, public-facing registers, and statutory reporting. The contract runs from early 2027 to 2035, on a not-for-profit concession basis with charges covering service costs only. Estimated annual turnover: GBP 300,000.
