De stad Leuven werkt aan de restauratie en herbestemming van haar historische stadhuis. Naast de blijvende politieke en ceremoniële functies wordt het gebouw vanaf de heropening in 2029 ook een volwaardige publieksplek waar erfgoed, ontmoeting, kennisdeling en maatschappelijke dialoog samenkomen. Binnen deze bredere herbestemming vormt de scenografie een essentiële schakel. Zij vertaalt de missie en visie van de toekomstige werking naar een samenhangende bezoekerservaring waarin architectuur, erfgoed, verhalen, inrichting en publiekswerking elkaar versterken. De scenografie geeft ruimtelijk en visueel vorm aan het vaste bezoekersparcours en aan het bezoekersonthaal, de oriëntatie in het gebouw, de educatieve werking en de identiteit van het stadhuis als publieke ontmoetingsplaats. De opdracht omvat daarom het ontwerp en realisatie van het concept, de verhaallijn en de integrale scenografie van de vaste tentoonstelling en van de antichambre, de signalisatie en wayfinding voor het hele monument. Daarbij wordt gestreefd naar één geïntegreerd totaalconcept dat de verschillende deelwerkingen van STAD_HUIS (zie bijlage 1 visietekst) - Start, Story en Studio - met elkaar verbindt en de bezoeker een heldere, kwalitatieve en inclusieve ervaring biedt. De opdrachtnemer werkt binnen een complexe erfgoedcontext en stemt zijn ontwerp af op de lopende restauratie- en verbouwingswerken, de architecturale uitgangspunten en de verschillende inhoudelijke en technische deelprojecten. Het resultaat is een duurzame, toekomstgerichte en onderhoudsvriendelijke inrichting die het monument respecteert en tegelijk ruimte laat voor toekomstige ontwikkelingen.
