La Faculté des Sciences, plus précisément le département de physique de la matière quantique de l'Université de Genève souhaite acquérir un système de refroidissement des matériaux à basse température (1,7 K) sans liquides cryogéniques, supportant des champs magnétiques intenses élevés (exposition jusqu’à 9 T), un accès optique aux matériaux étudiés dont les vibrations doivent être ultrafaibles (environ 1nm), comme exigé par la technique utilisée (spectroscopie à balayage de sonde), et deux positionneurs piézoélectriques capables de bouger les échantillons et le capteur quantique avec une précision de 1 nm ou mieux, supportant les champs magnétiques intenses et l'environnement cryogénique. De plus l'échantillon doit être placé sous un microscope supportant les températures cryogéniques. Il doit être capable de supporter une température contrôlée entre 1.7 K et 200 K.
