ECMWF, as one of the Entrusted Entities for the Destination Earth (DestinE) initiative, entered into contract for the provision of services for the definition and demonstration of climate risks indicators for agriculture and climate risk scenarios, to demonstrate the potential of DestinE. As result of this ITT, ECMWF awarded the contract to the highest ranking tenderer. The objective of this Agreement is for the development of a demonstrator leveraging high-resolution climate data from the Destination Earth initiative. It aims to assess and quantify climate-related risks to the agricultural sector, food prices, and financial stability through the development of tailored indicators and forward-looking scenarios for the European Central Bank (ECB). The scope includes stakeholder co-design with the ECB and ECMWF experts, delivery of datasets and scenarios, and provision of a Python-based analytical toolbox to support integration into ECB macroeconomic analysis and decision-making processes.
