Die Localnet beabsichtigt in Burgdorf eine neue Energiezentrale zu bauen.Im Rahmen von diesem Projekt geht es um die neuen Wärmepumpen. Als Grundlast werden drei Ammoniak Wärmepumpen (Quelle: Grundwasser) mit einer Gesamtleistung von 4 MW und einer Vorlauftemperatur von 80 °C installiert. Zur Nachwärmung auf 90 °C und zur Abdeckung der Spitzenlast werden ausserdem zwei Holzkessel mit einer Gesamtleistung von 4 MW installiert, die die beiden Speicher (Volumen ca. 220 m3) beladen. Die eigentliche Nacherwärmung erfolgt dann über die Speicher, so dass die Holzkessel nur in Abhängigkeit von dessen Füllstand betrieben werden und im Normalbetrieb nicht direkt in das Netz einspeisen.
