Accelerated task KRW Oosterhoutse Waarden

Staatsbosbeheer and K3 Delta B.V. concluded an agreement on 28-09-2021 concerning Oosterhoutse Waarden II. The agreement grants a right to temporary extraction of clay and sand in the floodplains of the Oosterhoutse Waarden, enabling large-scale new river nature. The project is fully licensed until 31 December 2034. Rijkswaterstaat designated the eastern sub-area as a Water Framework Directive (KRW) measure, creating a floodplain of about 87,500 m2 where water is retained longer by a weir, with the deeper part of the Oostelijke Polder serving as a fish refuge. The current assignment covers accelerated excavation of 180,000 cubic metres of clay into a depot and processing of 190,000 cubic metres of sand.
