Sektor Laboratorija za vode je uspostavio sistem upravljanja kvalitetom prema standardu BAS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 - Opći zahtjevi za kompetentnost ispitnih i kalibracionih laboratorija, u pogledu administrativnih i tehničkih zahtjeva. Da bi se ispunio jedan od osnovnih tehničkih zahtjeva standarda, obavezno je da oprema bude kalibrisana i redovno servisirana kako bi se osiguralo da mjerenja imaju sljedivost do Međunarodnog sistema mjernih jedinica (SI). Kako bi se osigurao ispravan rad instrumenta, jednom godišnje se mora izvršiti njegovo servisiranje i zamjena potrošnih dijelova. Obzirom da je Sektor laboratorija za vode akreditiran prema standardu BAS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018, a u skladu sa zahtjevima tačaka 6.4, 6.5 i 6.6 pomenutog standarda, servisiranje i validacija instrumenta AMA 254 mora biti izvršena. Nakon izvršene validacije instrumenata moraju se izdati certifikati i izvještaji o validaciji, kalibraciji, odnosno izvještaji o završenim navedenim provjerama, sa markicom proizvođača. Pomoću instrumenta AMA 254 se određuje koncentracija žive u uzorcima vode i sedimenta. Živa kao parametar kvaliteta vode se nalazi na listi prioritetnih supstanci EU, zbog čega se njena koncentracija u uzorcima vode određuje frekvencijom dvanaest puta godišnje, a u skladu sa godišnjim Planom i programom monitoringa površinskih voda.
