Om te kunnen voldoen aan de toekomstige energiebehoefte, staat de gemeente Maashorst zonneparken toe. Deze tender betreft het ophalen van initiatieven voor in totaal gezamenlijk 30 hectare perceelgrootte, met een maximum van 20 hectare perceelgrootte per park. De gemeente zet in op zonneparken met de hoogste kwaliteit. En de omgeving moet daarvan kunnen meeprofiteren. Door middel van deze tenderprocedure wil de gemeente komen tot een voorkeursvolgorde van meerdere zo optimaal mogelijk door de omgeving aanvaardbaar initiatieven voor de grootschalige opwek van zonne-energie, waarbij mogelijke nadelen voor de omgeving in brede zin worden beperkt. Het aanbrengen van de voorkeursvolgorde geeft de gemeente de gelegenheid om de beschikbare capaciteit voor het doorlopen van de procedure voor het verstrekken van een omgevingsvergunning doelgericht in te zetten.
