Mandatory securing of the drinking water network under SNCF railway lines by twin directional drilling

The water syndicate is procuring works to permanently secure its main drinking water supply pipeline where it crosses an SNCF railway line, at a difficult location under a rail bridge spanning a watercourse. The existing pipe has suffered leaks, including one causing a crisis situation, and temporary measures were installed with provisional SNCF Reseau authorisation. Following studies under the railway tracks, directional drilling has been selected as the long-term solution, to be carried out by twin directional bores.
