Das vorhandene Material hat das Ende seines Lebenszyklus erreicht und muss erneuert werden. Gleichzeitig ist eine Vereinheitlichung des Systems sowie eine Reduktion von Komponenten vorgesehen. Die erneuerte BAA Gross soll künftig sowohl die Bedürfnisse der CH-Armee abdecken.
