Austria - Supply of school fruit and vegetables to all public compulsory schools in Vienna under the Vienna School Fruit Programme

The City of Vienna is procuring weekly deliveries of fresh fruit and vegetables to all public compulsory schools participating in the Vienna School Fruit Programme, starting from the school year 2027/28. Currently 386 schools (plus around 40 branch locations) take part. Each class receives one crate per week, resulting in roughly 5,500 crates of uniform, seasonal and regional fruit or vegetables per delivery round, with one portion per child per crate. Delivery takes place during school operation, over 22 to 29 weeks per school year. The contractor must also handle the EU School Fruit and Vegetable and Milk scheme funding directly with AgrarMarkt Austria (AMA), including pre-financing the expected subsidy; the contracting authority covers the share not covered by AMA (currently around 60 percent plus VAT). Environmentally sound performance is required.
