Havenbedrijf Rotterdam (HbR) heeft meer dan 160 km aan glooiingen in beheer. Circa 30 km daarvan is een glooiing bestaande uit gepenetreerd breuksteen. Het beheer van deze glooiingen is ondergebracht bij de afdeling Asset management (AM) Constructions & Dredging. Nieuwbouw of grootschalige projecten loopt via de afdeling Port Development (PD). De inspecties van de glooiingen is in eigen beheer, hiermee wordt de technische staat bewaakt. De glooiingen in het Rotterdamse havengebied zijn steil en robuust met een bestendige bekleding, omdat HbR de grenzen opzoekt tussen het beschermen van haar oevers, maximale ruimte voor het water en optimale terreinuitgifte voor haar klanten aan de landzijde. Op basis van het gebruik van de havenbekkens en de beschikbare ruimte kiest Asset management een zo optimaal mogelijk bekledingstype. De drie meest voorkomende bekledingstypes in de Rotterdamse haven zijn: 1. Stortsteen; circa 50 km 2. Zetsteen: circa 80 km 3. Gepenetreerd breuksteen: circa 30 km Per locatie maakt HbR een afweging voor het toe te passen type taludbekleding. HbR wenst voor het onderhoud, herstel en aanbrengwerkzaamheden door middel van gepenetreerd breuksteen een raamovereenkomst af te sluiten met één vakkundige Opdrachtnemer.. De voordelen van gepenetreerd breuksteen zijn de hoge belastbaarheid, lange levensduur en het beperken van milieurisico’s bij oliemorsingen.
