Afin de préserver l’équilibre quantitatif et qualitatif de la nappe alluviale du Gapeau, plusieurs actions et mesures ont été définies dans le SAGE et le PGRE Gapeau. Bien que différentes études aient été menées à l’échelle locale, les processus de recharge naturelle (pluie et cours d’eau) n’ont pas forcément été corrélés à l’influence des prélèvements en eau, à la remontée du biseau salé, aux effets de recharge du projet Aquarenova et de l’irrigation agricole. Les vulnérabilités de cette nappe ne sont donc pas vraiment caractérisées à l’heure actuelle. Il est donc nécessaire de mener une étude globale pour pouvoir apporter de nouvelles connaissances et comprendre le fonctionnement actuel, et pourquoi pas futur, de la nappe. In fine, des mesures adéquates pour une gestion (quantitative et qualitative) durable et équilibrée de la nappe pourront être proposées.
