Description
European Commission intends to launch a medium-value study to identify the theoretical freight modal shift potential in EU. The tasks of the study will be as follows:
1. The contractors are expected to analyse existing data on road freight transport flows that run in parallel to existing rail, inland waterways and short sea shipping corridors, with an aim to identify the trade lanes with current and future potential for modal shift to multimodal and intermodal transport.
2. The contractors are expected to identify border areas between Member States, where terminal capacity could be shared and/or developed commonly for two or more Member States.
