In de proeftuin ‘Het PFAS SaneringsAtelier’ gaan wetenschappers en ontwerpers in 3 x tweetallen aan de slag om in kortlopende trajecten van 3 maanden locatie gebonden oplossingen te vinden, voor vervuilde locaties zoals oude brandbluslocaties, bedrijfsterreinen en baggerdepots, rivieroevers ed. Dit eerste experimentele deel van innovatie wordt vaak niet gefaciliteerd en is juist nodig om out of the box oplossingen aan te dragen. Ook het vooronderzoek dat gedaan wordt tijdens deze korte periodes is van belangrijke waarde, en door een prijsvraag voor de selectie van de deelnemers uit te schrijven, komen andere interessante ideeën ook naar boven drijven. Als output richt dit project zich enerzijds op de ontwikkeling van een nieuwe methode om binnen RWS anders werken en innoveren mogelijk te maken, aan de andere kant op het innovatief benaderen van een vervuilingsprobleem als een grondstof uitdaging.
