Description

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced specialist Market and Interior Designer to support the redevelopment of the ground floor of the former Wilko store, 59-71 Holton Road, Barry, into a vibrant and commercially sustainable indoor market. The appointed Designer will lead the development of the specialist internal market environment, including market stall typologies and configurations, customer experience, materials and finishes, furniture, lighting, signage, wayfinding, accessibility, placemaking and overall market identity. The Designer will work collaboratively with the Council’s separately appointed Architect to ensure that the market design is fully integrated within the wider architectural proposals, progressing from initial design vision and mood boards through concept development, stakeholder review and a pre-Christmas design reveal, to a coordinated final market design and funding-ready package by mid-March 2027.
