Descrizione

The RSPB is seeking an experienced peatland restoration contractor to deliver Phases 3 and 4 of the Lumbister Peatland Restoration Programme on Yell, Shetland. The contract covers the restoration of approximately 99 hectares of degraded blanket bog through a range of peatland restoration techniques, including drain and gully blocking, peat hag reprofiling, bare peat stabilisation and installation of timber dams. The contract will be delivered over two winter working seasons between September 2027 and March 2029. A site visit with RSPB staff is a mandatory requirement and all suppliers wishing to tender are asked to attend. This will be held on Friday 7th August 2026 meeting at Windhouse, south of Lumbister, Yell. The day will consist of an overview of the plans followed by a site visit to Lumbister Phases 3 and 4 where the works are to be undertaken. Numbers will be limited to one vehicle per bidder party due to access constraints. Booking for the Bidder Briefing Day is essential and should you require transportation to the site visit please also notify us in advance. Bidders should be prepared to walk around 5km over rough and uneven ground to the project area, and so you should be equipped with appropriate clothing. Should you be unable to attend the guided Bidder Briefing Day and wish to undertake a site visit in your own time please notify us of your intent in advance to agree a date/time and clear any access restrictions.
