The estimated quantities of structural backfill are subject to change. Project requires each company to have the capacity through company projections of supplying and are delivering at least 1/3 (or 370,000 m3) of the required amount of structural backfill in a year for delivery in either 2028, 2029, or 2030. The Laboratory testing shall be performed in 2 phases: • Phase 1: Preliminary testing for index properties of soil, where 13 tests will be conducted to confirm material suitability as a structural backfill. Bechtel will then review and approve the test results and select samples for the Phase 2 laboratory testing. • Phase 2: Advanced testing of the soil, where 5 tests will be conducted to assess compacted structural backfill behavior. Selection of structural backfill samples shall be coordinated by Bechtel. Shipment and delivery of structural backfill samples to the laboratory location shall be coordinated by Bechtel’s selected laboratory testing subcontractor. Cost for the backfill samples, packaging samples (ready for shipment) and loading samples onto a truck shall be managed by the structural backfill company at no cost to Bechtel.
