Energinet is considering carrying out a reinvestment in three existing synchronous condensers located at HVDC high voltage stations on Zealand and Funen. As part of this process, Energinet wishes to engage in a market dialogue with up to 5 relevant suppliers regarding the possibility of procurement and delivery capability within the coming 3-5 years. The dialogue aims to support project maturation, qualify the final solution direction, and establish a solid foundation for the upcoming reinvestment decision. In the current phase of the project, two overall reinvestment scenarios are being examined: • Full reinvestment in the synchronous condensers, or • Replacement of the stators, if this is assessed to be technically and economically sufficient. It is assumed that new equipment can be integrated into existing buildings and station areas. If the market's proposals involve modifications to buildings or adjacent components, an assessment of the expected scope of required adaptations is requested. It should also be expected that the control and protection systems will need to be reinvested. A key and highly prioritised consideration for Energinet is the total outage time associated with the removal of the existing machines and the commissioning of the new units. Outage periods have significant impact on the operation of the power system, including security of supply, and Energinet therefore places particular emphasis on suppliers’ assessments of installation and commissioning processes, as well as measures to minimise the critical period during which the units are out of service. For reference, an overview of one of the existing machines’ main specifications is provided (note that the nominal power rating varies slightly between machines): • Machine code: SGEN 100A 2P • Speed: 3,000 rpm • Rated voltage UN: 15.75 kV (+5/-5%) • Rated current IN: 9,898 A • Rated power SN: 270 MVA • Insulation class: F • Temperature rise class: B • Duty rating: S1 • Connection: Y/Y - 48 bars, two layers, transposed Roebel bars • Stator insulation type: GVPI • Stator insulation system: Micalastic® MICA tapes In the next phase of the market dialogue, sketch drawings of the three relevant stations and synchronous condensers will be shared, and it will also be possible to visit one of the sites. Energinet wishes to understand suppliers’ ability to deliver equipment in accordance with the above description, as well as their ability to adapt solutions to existing installations. Energinet also seeks insight into the products and solutions currently available on the market or expected to become available within the next 3-5 years that may support Energinet’s needs. Finally, an indication of the expected economic magnitude of the procurement and indicative delivery times is requested.
